A photo ID is required at the time of all appointments.

Please note: you must be 18 years or older for all Admissions services.

URGENT UPDATE: Due to an unprecedented number of animals currently in our care, the Hawaiian Humane Society will not be accepting walk-in owner-surrenders without an appointment .

Please note that if you have found or lost a pet, you may walk in during business hours to file a lost or found report or walk through to reclaim your pet. No appointment necessary.

Appointments: We accept appointments scheduled no less than 24 hours in advance. Please arrive on time for your appointment and plan to spend at least an hour with us if you are relinquishing a pet. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will be served as a walk-in, following other scheduled appointments.
If you wish to schedule an appointment for a humane cat trap and spay/neuter services, you must do so through the Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center.*

Walk-ins - Same Day Appointments: Limited walk-in services may be available but are not guaranteed. These will be assisted after scheduled appointments, and in the order of sign up on our virtual Waitlist. You can sign up on the virtual Waitlist at the time of your arrival. We will only be accepting emergency walk-in appointments, stray services, lost & found services, microchipping, emergency and end of life services.

Parking: Parking for the Pet Kōkua Resource Center is located in the parking lot directly behind the Hawaiian Humane Society. There are a total of five stalls at the top of the hill across from the Pet Kōkua Resource Center's lanai stairs for you to park in. If you are not able to find parking in these stalls, please walk up to our Pet Kōkua Resource Center and our team will assist you as soon as possible.

Emergencies: If you have an animal in distress and in need of immediate medical attention, you do not need to make an appointment. Please notify an Pet Kōkua Resource Center team member immediately upon arrival.

From 5 pm to 11 am, Pet Kōkua Resource Center is available for emergency calls only at 808-356-2250.

For situations such as the following, please also call our Dispatch line at 808-356-2250.

  • Animal in distress/danger
  • Dangerous dog or loose aggressive dog
  • Emergency euthanasia requests - Animal is in current distress
